Goals and Objectives

The project is aimed at mutual cooperation between IEM and NTNU, two important institutions in the field of biomedicine and also takes full advantage of combining their scientific and technological capacity. The purpose of this project is to promote cooperation not only between senior researchers but also to include young researchers and PhD students and thus promote high quality research on an international level.

Within this project aimed at testing the combination of advanced biomaterials, stem cells from different sources using advanced imaging technologies for neurology and innovative techniques of image analysis, we expect to obtain strong impact results in the field of combination therapies in the treatment of stroke and spinal cord injury in experimental animal models. The results of this cooperation will be published in high-impact factor international scientific journals.

Thanks to the close cooperation between IEM and the Biomedical Innovation Center (EU project JPD2 Z.04.2.06/2.1.00.5/0307), including Bioinova, a spin-off application company which is certified for the production of stem cells for clinical use, the long term translation into clinical application is a possibility in the event of significant results in the treatment of stroke and spinal cord injury being achieved during the cooperation between IEM and NTNU.
